denied

[formerly titled "cash sings hurt"]

I'm sitting at my sisters desk, hearing praise from the staff of the building she works /lives in while i organize her photo's into appropriate and inappropriate files for printing with echo's of johnny's voice in surrounding speakers.

my browsing uncovered an uncommon photograph of my own.

... however, more important is the story i must share with you now.

A few moments ago i trekked out to grab a drink and in line i over heard the woman behind me talking to the woman in front of me. [i suppose it can't be overhearing if i am in the middle of the conversation, but you find a better word for it.] they were talking, loudly, to each other and i was getting rather annoyed because all i wanted was to get my coffee and get back to going through pictures; here was this woman interrupting my day dream vacation. they were talking about how great it will be when all the exams have been written and they (the two women) won't have to worry about rescheduling.

my curiosity spiked: as it would happen my sister has been at home the past few days after having missed her final exam because she wound up in emerg, with mom and dad, with a case of strep throat. i chuckled to myself thinking about how wonderful if this was the woman whom had denied my sister a differed exam until my sister threw up in her office, in front of the woman. Until my sister had thrown up this woman was being rather difficult. In some occasions she is likely within her right to be skeptical, however when it comes to my little sister you'd better f*ckin make sure.

as i tuned back into the conversation to hear the woman say:
... and this girl was so sick, her parents came in from out of town and took her to the hospital ...
[my eyes enlarge and my head turns slowly towards the woman speaking]
... and when she sat in my office on friday ...
[wait for it]
... she looked so very sick, green in the face even, and i said to her "why don't you just go home" and then she ...
[i have tears in my eyes from holding back my laughter]
... threw up. RIGHT IN MY OFFICE!
[i had to leave the line. i couldn't take it. it made my day absolutely complete]

Kris,

that site is one of my favourites, and i have even made a point of mentioning it during both of my Communication Studies seminar classes - both cases my presentations invovled something about blogging.

i might have to try and submit one, perhaps it will be my first publication!

Anita,

i've been keeping sort of busy, in an upcoming post i'll creatively recap my summer thus far - it involves a first time planting a crop, guess which crop it is! leanne is better now and off tree planting with all her hippie buddies. she'll have great stories i'm sure.

ken,

wow, thanks for the post. i might send in a photo or two in the next few days. i'm flattered that you've visited here, and i hope you enjoy my writing.

... getting comments like these three make me wish i would post more often.

cheers,

--j
