three weeks before the day after tomorrow ...
This semester my dad lent me his '89 buick leSabre. it is a boat of a car, rides wonderfully and i loved having it; even though it made me lazy. my bike sat unused for several weeks at a time because it was easier to jump in the car than it was to get suited up for the ride in to campus, despite it being next to impossible to find parking closer than my house.i had the car because i am finishing up my honours (which i really hope i get) by taking classes in waterloo. having the car really put a few things into perspective for me.
1. gas is expensive and creates problems
2. cars make people lazy
3. cars break down. always.
three weeks ago dad took the car in because the back end needed re-aligneda week ago it was brought in for new back tires
and two days ago the kid was left stranded a few miles out of town because the buick decided that it no longer wanted to keep it's oil inside the car. this proved to be quite difficult for everyone, especially for the car because once the oil was on the ground she decided that she no longer wanted to run, steer or brake either.
four hours later a flat bed arrived in brantford and the buick was hauled home. i am now left to resort to my bike, which i don't have much problem with since i don't like having a car anyways.
i don't ever want to own a car. please remind me of this every time you think of it because i will need all the reminders i can get.
[the image above was borrowed from the nice people at Occasionally Wright. when i get a chance i'll share a picture of my car - however if the two were side by side there would be little difference between OW's and JT's.]

2 Thoughts:
Never buy a car.
Consider yourself reminded!
